Those
who have seen him perform live
unanimously agree that DW James
and Wagon Tales are one of the
most exciting country performers
to appear in Canada in quite some
time. The energy they put into
their show is infectious, and the
result has been a growing fan
base wherever they play. DW likes
to bill himself as the "third
hardest working man in country
music", but he'll never tell you
who the other two are.
Having
opened for renowned performers
such as Billy Ray Cyrus, Asleep
At The Wheel, The Dixie Chicks
and Hal Ketchum, DW knows what it
takes to succeed at the highest
levels of the business. Two years
ago DW drew 2000 people to Lulu's
in Kitchener as the sole
entertainer for 820 CHAM's
Country Music Video Dance Party -
and this was before he had a
record out!
What
sets this 32 year old Calgary
native apart from the pack is
that he wears a wireless
microphone which allows him to
participate with his audience
while still performing. He
continually wins new fans with
his interaction and his
tremendous athletic abilities. "I
might go and chit-chat and shake
hands. I can also jump off the
stage and two step with people.
The wireless headset is my
freedom of expression. It allows
me to bring people right into my
show" says DW.
Until
now the only way to hear DW James
was to catch a live show, but not
anymore. His debut cd was
recorded by well known producer
Nick Blagona. Featuring nine
original songs (including two he
wrote), the album shows the
strengths of the artist and his
band ranging from hard rocking
country to heart felt ballads.
The first single off this 12 song
album is "Last of the Red Hot
Fools", a remake of the 1988 pop
hit by The Jitters. Distributed
nationally by Page Music
Distribution, this album is
available in stores across
Canada.
During
the first part of 1995 DW and
Wagon Tales were the house band
at the Saloon in Toronto. Their
action packed show knocked the
socks off most everyone who came
to see them. "We just want
everybody to have more fun than
they can handle", says DW. Now
new and old fans alike can
experience DW James on CD and
rekindle the feeling they had
when they first saw him live. And
for those who have not yet seen
him perform, the album stands on
it's own merits as a fine
debut.
DW
was at one time a competitive
figure skater and a Canadian
Olympic hopeful, but after
finishing in 10th place while
trying to crack the 1988 Olympic
team, he gave it up and decided
to pursue his ongoing love affair
with country music. Born into a
Canadian military family, the
well traveled artist has lived in
Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg,
London (Ont.) and Toronto as well
as Germany.
DW
James and Wagon Tales are
continually touring throughout
Ontario and are presently booked
through Feb.1999.
