Donny D.

Project Manager

When 13-year-old Donny DaSilva began tinkering with his dad's studio equipment he became fascinated by the bright lights, large knobs and clunky switches. Donny decided to pursue this new hobby and at 16 took a local studio’s course to learn the basics of audio and recording.

Following a 6 month placement at a Toronto studio as an intern, Donny entered the MIA program at Fanshawe College at age 17 and graduated two years later. Another studio internship led to his first engineering job which allowed him to work with artists such as Glenn Lewis and Kardinal Official.

At 22 Donny was introduced to Pizazzudio Recording Studio in Weston, ON. He was hired as an assistant but was also learning the ins and outs of managing a studio under the watchful eye of owner Barry Lubotta. At the same time, Barry started teaching Donny about Marshmellow Records, another company he owned that was putting out a few albums each year.

A few years later in 2000, Barry purchased Phase One Studios in Scarborough and chose Donny, at the ripe old age of 24, to be his studio manager. From the first day at Phase One Donny was knocking down walls, designing new studios, making repairs and in charge of overall renovations.

Donny has since been promoted to project manager at Marshmellow Records, overseeing all new album projects, artwork and final masters for the company. He has worked with Ron Wiseman, Jackie Richardson, Kirk Elliott and Danny Weis to help bring their finished product to market. No album is ready for manufacturing until Donny gives it his final seal of approval.
